1. Sligachan - Allt Daraich Waterfall & Pools

Hidden waterfalls Isle of Skye

A short walk from the famous Sligachan Falls is a hidden gem – perfect for a (cool!) afternoon dip. We stopped here after a day visiting Loch Coruisk. Park next to the old bridge across from Sligachan Hotel (Parking at the hotel is for guests only). Walk up with the statue on your right-hand side. Then, follow the narrow path (you’ll hear/see a stream to your left – follow this).

You’ll reach a small gate on your left hand side. Walk through this and then keep walking for another 10-15 minutes.

The path continues with the gorge to your left. You won’t miss it so just keep walking until you see it! When you reach the waterfall, carefully climb down the muddy path and you’re there!

Take a dip or climb the waterfall. We recommend bringing a towel, swimwear and waterproof camera if you have one. We would recommend taking some water shoes for walking in the water on the pebbles. These ones on Amazon are really highly rated and are around £15.

3. Talisker Bay Waterfall

Talisker Bay itself is beautiful. Just put Talisker Bay into your maps and follow the road until you reach the signs telling you where to park. It’s a lovely 30-40 minute walk to the bay. If bringing a dog keep it on the lead as there’s a lot of sheep along the way. When you reach the bay look over to your right hand side and you’ll see the waterfall falling down the cliff. Head over and enjoy!

This double fall on River Rha looks amazing after heavy rain fall.

Park in the small car park opposite the police station in Uig. Then walk untill you see a sign for the waterfall going into the woods.

Easy to find and worth the stop if driving near Uig. Another hidden gem and perfect for taking an ice cold dip!

5. Torrin Pools

Hidden waterfalls Isle of Skye

A quieter alternative to the Fairy Pools that feels peaceful and undiscovered. Just a quick Google will pull up hundreds of stunning photos.

Situated on the single track Broadford-Elgol road this is a perfect stop on your way back from Elgol.

Head for Torrin and when you reach the edge of Loch Slapin, watch out for a burn that crosses underneath the road and a metal barrier on the right hand side.

This is where you start for your adventure to find the magical Torrin Pools. Looking at a map you’ll see the Allt Aisridh and the Allt an t-Sratha Bhig (burns). These converge into the pools.
